In need your help! I need you to donate to the Well Examined Life.
The goal of my website is to increase self-awareness through dialogue, both my own self-awareness and those of my readers. If you have been reading this website for a while then you have probably seen me write about some deeply personal issues. I publish the content that I publish for two reasons 1. to explore my own internal universe and 2. to share it with the world in the hopes that my vulnerability gives someone else the strength to be vulnerable too.
Recently, I have become increasingly involved in the struggle for Black Liberation and have begun writing about what it’s like to be Black in America. I want to continue to write about Black Liberation and uplift the voices of other organizers in the struggle. Specifically I want to highlight the leadership of Black Women in this movement, not only because they are all too often erased from history but because I believe we could all learn a lot from hearing the true stories of how this movement is moving forward.
Narratives are powerful. They help us make sense of the world, influence our actions and spur us on to change our reality. Yet when our narratives are written for us they can chain us to half -lives and limit our human potential. Too often the narratives of Black people are written and owned by someone else. Too often the narratives of Black women are erased and we are left without their wisdom, their guidance and their brilliant and beautiful humanity. I need you to donate to the Well Examined Life because I need help in making sure I can continue to craft my own narrative and up lift the narratives of other people.
I would like to continue my podcast with a series of interviews of Black women, yet my laptop can’t process the software I use to make podcast anymore.
So now I need your help! I put in a lot of work and ask for very little in return… until now.
If you enjoy my work, please consider chipping in a few dollars. I need help getting a new laptop, maybe some new sound equipment and website redesign so that I continue increasing the dialogue about the things we find too painful to discuss but are too destructive to hold in. Even if you can’t afford to chip in now please send this link out to your contacts and asks your friends to contribute.
